Soon after being announced for the UK and Ireland, Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition have been announced for France as well. Xoom 2 is the successor to Motorola’s highly successful Xoom tablet while the Media Edition is specially designed for multimedia lovers.
As per a recent statement by Motorola, the two latest tablets will be available in France at the Darty, FNAC, Cdiscount and Surcouf. Currently, Surcouf is offering 5% discount on the retail price & has priced the Xoom 2 for €436.93 while Xoom 2 Media Edtion has been priced at €379.95 after the discount.
Though it is not exactly known when the tablets will be available for purchase, they are expected to hit the markets before the end of this month.
Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition are powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM and run on Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system. Both feature a 5 megapixel rear-facing HD camera with digital zoom, autofocus & LED flash and a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling.
The only differences between the two tablets are that of display size and weight. While Xoom 2 sports a rather conventional 10.1-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass and weighs around 586 grams, the media edition boasts a slightly smaller 8.2-inch HD display and is much lighter at just 386 grams.
