Acer has announced the release of its first Windows Phone 7 mobile phone called Allegro. It is a mid-range mobile priced at $420, a bit less than Nokia latest smartphone, Lumia 710, which is expected to cost around $440.
Acer Allegro sports a 3.6-inch WVGA display capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8255 processor with 1GB RAM. Talking about the camera, the phone comes integrated with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash that supports 720p HD video recording using Skype.
The other features in Allegro include Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, integrated GPS with A-GPS, 3G and Wi-Fi. It comes with a powerful 1300 mAh battery that provides six hours of talk time on a single charge.
Unlike some other smartphones that are quite bulky, both in terms of size and weight, Acer Allegro weighs just 126 grams and has dimensions of 11.6 x 5.9 x 13mm.
It is going to be available in France in mid-November but there is no official word on its launch date in India. However it is expected that Acer might cut down on the price tag when the phone is launched in India considering the nation’s highly competitive mobile market.
