Looks like the social networking giant Facebook is all set to challenge the seats of the major Instant messaging clients, AIM, AOL, Windows live messenger and others.
Facebook has developed its own native Windows Messenger.Now with around 800 million+ user base Facebook is sure to cause a great damage to these messaging clients who would find it difficult to reach this number even if taken together.

It’s a small piece of software with just 482 KB in size. The looks are no different from the Facebook sidebar. They have added extra options of Friend Request, Message and Notification. Looks similar to that of GTalk. When you click on a notification it would open your default browser and redirect you to the main site Facebook.com.

Since Microsoft and Skype have already made an investment of around $ 240 million in Facebook it’s unlikely it would affect their market what is worth seeing is how Yahoo messenger and AOL response to this move of Facebook.
